Alan Fox, DVM
Dr. Fox joined the Westside team in 1996 and has been the hospital administrator since 2006. Dr. Fox received his undergraduate degree in biology in 1992 from Purdue University and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Purdue in 1996. He is president of the Fort Wayne Veterinary Medical Association; the association helps foster communication and sharing of ideas among all Fort Wayne veterinarians. In his free time, Dr. Fox likes to travel and spend time outdoors. He especially enjoys downhill skiing, cooking, hiking, biking, landscaping, and rollerblading.
Dr. Fox's professional interests include internal medicine, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery; he also takes special interest in spending time with clients and in educating them how to best care for their pets. He enjoys heading the management team at Westside and constantly strives to be a positive, leading model for the entire Westside team.
Valerie Tratnyek, DVM
Dr. Tratnyek graduated from Purdue's School of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. After practicing in Evansville for 3 years, she returned to her home town of Fort Wayne to become a part of the Westside team. Over the years, she has developed a special interest in dermatology cases, where she finds the treatment of chronic skin problems to be most rewarding.
She enjoys golfing with her husband Dennis and playing hockey with her two young sons. In the rare moments she has alone, she loves to read and try new recipes. She has a Boxer mix named Gwendolyn that requires lots of exercise but provides many laughs.
Abigail Trapp, DVM
Dr. Trapp is originally from Kokomo, Indiana, where her love for animals first began with her family's horses. She attended Purdue University as an undergraduate studying Animal Sciences. Before heading to veterinary school, she met her husband, Scott. Together they graduated from Purdue's School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Dr. Trapp then began her veterinary career at Westside Animal Hospital.
Dr. Trapp is interested in internal medicine, particularly feline medicine, as well as dentistry. In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding, outdoor activities, and spending time with her own pets, which include 4 cats, 1 dog, and 2 goldfish.
