Westside Animal Hospital was established in 1957 by Dr. Keith McMahan and Dr. Forrest McClead. The original location was on West Jefferson Blvd.
During its 50-year history, Westside Animal Hospital developed a loyal clientele because of the emphasis placed on providing high-quality medical care and attention to client service. Dr. Richard Hahn purchased the practice in 1981 and built a new hospital in 1992 at the intersection of Thomas and Illinois Roads. This new location greatly improved the hospital’s accessibility from I-69 and the rapidly-growing Aboite area of Fort Wayne. After continued growth of the practice, Dr. Alan Fox joined the practice in 1996. Dr. Valerie Tratnyek joined in 2000, and Dr. Abigail Trapp joined in 2007. Dr. Alan Fox is currently the hospital administrator at Westside.
Westside Animal Hospital has been a member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) for 50 years. AAHA-certified veterinary hospitals must meet strict requirements for hospital facilities and level of services they provide. We are extremely proud to be one of a select group of AAHA hospitals in the area — a distinction not easily achieved. Visit the AAHA Website for more information. Please note that we are a 50-year accredited member — one of only six Indiana animal hospitals with such a prestigious distinction.
