Westside Animal Hospital was established in 1957 by Dr. Keith McMahan and Dr. Forrest McClead. The original location was on West Jefferson Blvd.
During its 50-year history, Westside Animal Hospital developed a loyal clientele because of the emphasis placed on providing high-quality medical care and attention to client service. Dr. Richard Hahn purchased the practice in 1981 and built a new hospital in 1992 at the intersection of Thomas and Illinois Roads. The new location greatly improved the hospital’s accessibility from I-69 and the rapidly-growing Aboite area of Fort Wayne. After continued growth of the practice, Dr. Alan Fox joined the practice in 1996. Dr. Abigail Trapp joined in 2007. Dr. Janet Houghton joined in 2014, and Dr. Marisa Burton joined the practice in 2018.
Westside Animal Hospital has been a member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) for over 50 years. AAHA accredited veterinary hospitals must meet strict requirements for hospital facilities and the level of services they provide. We are extremely proud to be one of a select group of AAHA hospitals in the area — a distinction not easily achieved.
